The county clerk's office serves as the official record keeper for Navarro County, County Court, and the Commissioner's Court.

The Civil office in the basement suite is where the following are filed and/or searched:
deeds, marriage licenses, birth certificates, death certificates, and property searches

    The county clerk's office serves as the official record keeper for Navarro County, County Court, and the Commissioner's Court.



    Recording

    The county clerk preserves all documents pertaining to real property records, including deeds, tax liens, deeds of trust, affidavits, and UCCs. The recording of deed records for Navarro County began in 1850.
    Filings will be accepted each day from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Filings submitted after 4:00 PM each day will be filed for public record on the next business day.

    The correct amount for the filing of each document will be necessary. This office can no longer refund cash to patrons.


    Our new filing system has been developed to provide the best possible results to insure accurate recordings with a professional appearance.


    These procedures began Tuesday, February 1, 2005.

  • Marriage Licenses

    The county clerk issues marriage licenses, Declaration of Informal Marriage licenses and files assumed names (DBA's) for new and established businesses. (NOTE: FORMS FOR FILING THE ASSUMED NAMES ARE OBTAINED AT MOST OFFICE SUPPLY BUSINESSES.) Recording of marriage records for the county of Navarro began in 1846.

    Beginning September 1, the couples who take the courses and are provided a certificate by the approved providers will have the added benefit of having $60.00 of the marriage license waived. The only cost to the couple who have the certification is $22.00 instead of the regular $82.00. Those who do not take the course, beginning September 1 will pay the regular $82.00 for a marriage license.

  • The County Clerk files and maintains all birth and death records for Navarro County. The Navarro County Clerk will only retain death records for individuals who died in Navarro County. Maintenance of birth and death records for the State of Texas begin in 1903. (NOTE: if requesting birth and death records, valid identification is REQUIRED under State Law.)

    The County Clerk's Office is NOW on the REMOTE BIRTH ACCESS. If you are a native born Texan, you can get a birth certificate. You no longer have to travel to the state vital statistics office in Austin or vital records office in the county where you were born. A "Short Form" or Abstract Birth Certificate will be issued for counties other than Navarro County. Short Form Birth Certificates may not be accepted for Passport applications. 

    If you need to obtain a copy of a birth or death certificate and you are a qualified applicant, you will need to fill out an application, provide current photo ID and pay applicable fees. We have several ways that this can be accomplished.

    • Print and mail the completed, notarized application with applicable fees (check or money order), along with a copy of your valid ID or Driver’s license to our office.
    • Complete the application online and come with valid ID to pick up Certificate in our office

    We also have “Vitals Access” which is an online service where you can complete the application, provide ID and pay for the requested document and when complete, will be mailed to your provided address.

  • Misdemeanor and Criminal Offenses

    The county clerk records information on all class A and B misdemeanor offenses such as DWI's, thefts, assaults, and drug cases. The office also issues Occupational Licenses for individuals. This office also provided administrative support to the county court through the issuance of warrants, summons, bond forfeitures, subpoenas, commitments, etc. (NOTE: The only people that are NOT charged for copies in misdemeanor criminal cases are District Attorney's and the Defendant's Attorney of Record at the time of the offense.)


    Probate Matters

    Historical Probate Search From 1800 to 2015

    The office maintains records for civil and probate court. The office issues citations, writs of execution, letters of guardianship, letters testamentary, notices, and other documents as required by law or requested by the customer. The probate court hears cases concerning wills to be probated, administration of estates, mental health commitments, guardianships, etc.

Scanning and Records Management

The county clerk scans real property records, public records, probate, criminal and commissioner's court minutes; manages and preserves these records. These records are scanned daily and ready for viewing images. Our records are computerized from 1995 to the present.  Coming OPR records will be computerized back to 1985.

NOW Commissioner's Court Minutes can be viewed online. The county clerk's office posts notices of the commissioner's meetings, and actions of the commissioner's court sessions, maintains records of these proceedings, and disseminates this information.
